Coach Kyle Kreuser

  Coach Kyle Kreuser is originally from Hartford, Wi and was a  3-time state entrant for Hartford Union High School, 3-time Team State Qualifier, Conference Champion. Kyle's high school team didn't lose a conference dual while he was in high school and was a perennial top 5 team in the state. Kyle is entering his 15th  coaching wrestling. He originally starting coaching at Columbia Heights High School from 2006-2007 as a varsity assistant where he took the varsity to the section final for the first time in school history, losing to STMA. Then Kyle started teaching at Rosemount Middle and High School in 2008-2009 (coached 9th grade team), and at Hastings Middle School from 2009-present. Kyle helped with 9th grade team from 2009-2011 at HHS. Kyle got "recruited" to move to Hastings from Jim Rohr and Dave Myers (Mary Jo Myers husband). Coach Pete Kranz

Coach Pete Kranz is a 1975 Hastings graduate. During high school, he was a 3 year letter winner, All-Conference, Captain, and earned a wrestling scholarship to UND. Pete has a long history of coaching in Hastings that began during the 1980-1981 seasons. After that season, he coached youth wrestling from 1987 to 2000. During that time, he started back up with the high school from 1995-2009 and now from 2019 till the present. Coach Kranz was drawn back to the program because of his l ove the sport of wrestling and because his sons wrestled who he coached in the youth program. Pete wrestled in HS and college and was influenced by Don Miller and Paul Vaith to start coaching at the HS level. His favorite thing about Hastings wrestling is h elping kids become great young men and women not only in the wrestling room but in their personal lives. Coach Paul Vaith

  Coach Paul Vaith hails from Blooming Prairie, MN. In high school, he was a 4-year letter winner, 4-time All-Conference, and a MN State Qualifier. After high school, he attended and wrestled for  St. Thomas University, but was sidelined with knee injuries. This is where Coach Vaith’s coaching career began, spending 7 years at St. Thomas, 1 year at Bloomington Lincoln HS, and now 38 years at Hastings HS. During his time as head coach, Mr. Vaith recorded 412 dual meet victories! Coach Vaith’s favorite part of Hastings wrestling is working with our young men and women. His favorite moment was winning State Titles in 1996 and 2023. He is most excited to see the individual growth of our young men and women as they pursue their dreams and in turn, leading to team success as well. Mr. Vaith always supports the two keys to success in life: having a positive mental attitude and a great work ethic. Mr. Vaith has been married for 46 years. Coach Josh McLay

  Josh McLay grew up all around the midwest and settled in Hastings in 5th grade. In high school, he was a 3-time state champion, 5-time Fargo champion, 1-time Fargo runner-up, and a 3 year captain for Hastings High School. After high school, Josh earned an athletic scholarship and wrestled for the University of Minnesota. During college, Josh was an NCAA qualifier, Academic All Big-Ten, and a captain of the Gopher wrestling team.  After college, Josh coached wrestling at Hastings for two years, Woodbury for one year, Eagan for one year, and has been back at Hastings for 13 years. Josh came back to Hastings to teach and coach here in order to give back to the community he grew up in. One of the things that Josh loves most about coaching at Hastings HS is the kids, coaches, and families. Some of his favorite memories have been winning team section titles which Hastings has done 8 times in the past 11 years. Coach Andy Trembath

  Andy Trembath was born in Grand Rapids and eventually moved to Hastings. During high school, he was a part of two state qualifying teams, was a two-time state entrant, and a one time state place winner. Andy was also a member of the Storm cadet and junior teams for Fargo. His coaching career began at Prior Lake where he spent two seasons, then one year at the Hastings Middle School, and finally he is entering his sixth season at Hastings HS. Andy wanted to come back to Hastings and coach because he is an alumni, loves the Hastings wrestling community, and wanted to give back to it. His favorite thing about coaching in Hastings is the culture and community that surrounds wrestling. Andy’s favorite moment in his coaching career was when Luke Chamberlain pinned the Eagan heavyweight to win the section title. In the future he is most excited to watch his sons, who are in the youth program, grow up and continue to develop their wrestling skills in the same community and sport that has tau
