Coach Pete Kranz

Coach Pete Kranz is a 1975 Hastings graduate. During high school, he was a 3 year letter winner, All-Conference, Captain, and earned a wrestling scholarship to UND. Pete has a long history of coaching in Hastings that began during the 1980-1981 seasons. After that season, he coached youth wrestling from 1987 to 2000. During that time, he started back up with the high school from 1995-2009 and now from 2019 till the present. Coach Kranz was drawn back to the program because of his love the sport of wrestling and because his sons wrestled who he coached in the youth program. Pete wrestled in HS and college and was influenced by Don Miller and Paul Vaith to start coaching at the HS level. His favorite thing about Hastings wrestling is helping kids become great young men and women not only in the wrestling room but in their personal lives.

Coach Kranz has many favorite moments but here are a few: 1. Being a coach and part of the State Champion Teams in 1996 and 2023. 2. Being mat side with long time friend and coach Paul Vaith when his son Luke Vaith won the individual state championship. 3. Being a coach as my sons wrestled in the Hastings MS and HS program and now being mat side with my grandsons as they go through their HS careers. 4. It was an honor to be mat side with my grandsons Blake and Trey as they won the Individual State Championships. A moment I will never forget!

In the future, Coach Kranz is looking forward to the continuation of the strong traditions of the Hastings Wrestling Program. Hastings Wrestling is like being a part of one big family. He has been married to his wife Jackie for 44 years and they have 3 children, daughter Becky Beissel, and two sons Jeff and Matt. On top of that, they have three grandchildren: Blake, Trey and Ellie Beissel

Finally, Coach Kranz wanted to say "I would like to thank all the coaches and the Hastings Wrestling Club for all their hard work over the years in making Hastings Wrestling a great program."
