Coach Kyle Kreuser

Coach Kyle Kreuser is originally from Hartford, Wi and was a 3-time state entrant for Hartford Union High School, 3-time Team State Qualifier, Conference Champion. Kyle's high school team didn't lose a conference dual while he was in high school and was a perennial top 5 team in the state. Kyle is entering his 15th coaching wrestling. He originally starting coaching at Columbia Heights High School from 2006-2007 as a varsity assistant where he took the varsity to the section final for the first time in school history, losing to STMA. Then Kyle started teaching at Rosemount Middle and High School in 2008-2009 (coached 9th grade team), and at Hastings Middle School from 2009-present. Kyle helped with 9th grade team from 2009-2011 at HHS.

Kyle got "recruited" to move to Hastings from Jim Rohr and Dave Myers (Mary Jo Myers husband). Starting out as a young teacher, he wanted to get involved in coaching, and was lucky enough to make the move to Hastings. Kyle had never been to Hastings until he interviewed for this job. The city of Hastings reminds him a TON of his hometown of Hartford, WI (blue collar, family oriented, and a huge wrestling town).

Kyle said his favorite thing about coaching in Hastings is the community. "The community: the people here are amazing! There is so much buy-in from families here. They support you and provide resources to make our wrestling team successful. I am also fortunate to coach in a building with great people (Shemon, Rohr, Wilkins, Mulvihill, and more). We are able to connect with kids and get them out for the sport."

Kyle's favorite moment from coaching in Hastings was taking the 9th grade team to the State Finals against Foley, and upsetting Apple Valley in the semi-finals. It came down to heavyweight, Hastings lost, but it was a memorable experience working with the kids at the middle school and with their 9th grade team.

When looking at the future of Hastings wrestling, Kyle said, "I'm excited to see our numbers continue to flourish, new generations put their stamp on the history of this program, and to work with young, energetic coaches who can bring a different perspective to an already successful program."

Kyle has been married 12 years (Holly). He has two kids: Tyson (age 11) and Maren (age 9).

Finally Coach Kreuser said, "I'm huge on multisport athletes! I was a three sport athlete in high school: soccer (all conference and all-state) and baseball (all conference and all-state). I think it's extremely important that kids play multiple sports and hit the weight room hard."
