Coach Josh McLay

Josh McLay grew up all around the midwest and settled in Hastings in 5th grade. In high school, he was a 3-time state champion, 5-time Fargo champion, 1-time Fargo runner-up, and a 3 year captain for Hastings High School. After high school, Josh earned an athletic scholarship and wrestled for the University of Minnesota. During college, Josh was an NCAA qualifier, Academic All Big-Ten, and a captain of the Gopher wrestling team.

After college, Josh coached wrestling at Hastings for two years, Woodbury for one year, Eagan for one year, and has been back at Hastings for 13 years. Josh came back to Hastings to teach and coach here in order to give back to the community he grew up in. One of the things that Josh loves most about coaching at Hastings HS is the kids, coaches, and families. Some of his favorite memories have been winning team section titles which Hastings has done 8 times in the past 11 years. Josh is looking forward to the growth of the wrestling team and seeing which kids will step up each year. He has been married for 17 years and has 3 daughters.
