Bennett Brockman is the son of Christie and Charlie and the brother of Bronson and Piper. His favorite musical artist is 21 Savage, his favorite TV Show is The Blacklist, his favorite movie is 21 Jump Street, and his favorite food is pizza. If Bennet was a NASCAR driver, the sponsorship on his car that would best represent him would be Spikeball. He started wrestling in 5th grade because his friend Nick Liefeld got him into it. His first thoughts about wrestling was that it was a hard sport that pushes you. His favorite moments from wrestling have been the team tournaments Finally, Bennett's goals are to get his varsity letter this year and once day, be a starter on varsity. 

Steve Seleski is the son of Melissa and Vinny and the brother of Emma. His favorite band is Maroon 5, his favorite TV Show is Family Guy, his favorite movie is 21 Jump Street, and his favorite food is steak. If Steve was a NASCAR driver, the sponsorship on the hood of his car that best represents him would be Gatorade. He started wrestling in Kindergarten and he got started by his mom. His first thoughts of wrestling was that it was fun. Steve loves wrestling because it builds character. His favorite memory of wrestling has been when the team made it to state last year. Steve's goal for the future is to see how much the team can improve. 

Mark Svoboda is the son of Robb and Sandi and the brother of Braden, Evan, Dawson, Ashley, and Kaleigh. His favorite band is Maroon 5, his favorite TV Show is The Walking Dead, his favorite movie is 23 Blast, and his favorite food is enchiladas. If Mark was a NASCAR driver, the sponsorship on the hood of his car that best represents him would be Breast Cancer Awareness. He started wrestling in 2011 and got into it by watching his brothers. His first thoughts of wrestling was that he really loved how hands on it was and the constant physical contact. Mark loves wrestling because it helps him create friend ships and make bonds with his teammates  His favorite memory of wrestling has been going to the Bi-State tournament. Mark's goal for the future is going to the state tournament as a team this year. 

Barret Boardman is the son of Seyth and Shawna and the brother of Kannon, Olivia, Avery, and Witt. His favorite music is country, his favorite TV Show is the hunting channel, his favorite movie is Christmas Vacation, and his favorite food is steak. If Barret was a NASCAR driver, the sponsorship on the hood of his car that best represents him would be a country music artist. He started wrestling in 7th grade and his dad got him into it. His first thoughts of wrestling was that it was boring.  His favorite memory of wrestling has been going the summer program. Barret's goal for the future is making the varsity team.

Tristan Majchrzak is the son of Chad and Sandi and the brother of Livy. His favorite music is Linkin Park, his favorite TV Show is the The Office, his favorite movie is Transformers, and his favorite food is steak. If Tristan was a NASCAR driver, the sponsorship on the hood of his car that best represents him would be Kwik Trip. He started wrestling this year and got into it because of his friends. His first thoughts of wrestling was that it sounded hard and tough and that's why he wanted to do it.  His favorite memory of wrestling has been many of his matches. Tristan's goal for the future is to improve in wrestling.

Jack Bainbridge is the son of Jason and Wendy and the brother of William and Henry. His favorite music is pop, his favorite TV Show is Cobra Kai, his favorite movie is The Longest Yard, and his favorite food is pizza. If Jack was a NASCAR driver, the sponsorship on the hood of his car that best represents him would be a Dominoes. He started wrestling in Pre-school and Luke Rowh and his grandpa Jim Weber got him into it. His first thoughts of wrestling was that he didn't like it until he got to middle school. Jack is a 2 time state entrant. His favorite memory of wrestling has been beating Woodbury to qualify for the state tournament as a team. Jack's goal for the future is making the varsity team. In the future, Jack wants to be able to help teach some of the new kids coming into the room.

Coach Angie McLay

  Coach Angie McLay is a 1997 Hastings HS graduate. While she never officially wrestled, she has been wrestling her brother Josh McLay most of her life and winning most of their childhood matches. This is Coach Angie's first year coaching at HHS and she wanted to coach in order to help the growth of young ladies in wrestling and the sport of women’s wrestling.  Her favorite thing about Hastings wrestling is being  in a program that helps change the path of children’s lives. Coach Angie's favorite moment of Hastings wrestling has been watching the young men and women overcome obstacles to obtain their goals. Also upsetting STMA at the high school tournament last year.  She is most excited to see the  growth and development of women’s wrestling. Coach Angie has 3 boys Paul 25, Lynden 22, Mac 22. Lynden and Mac were both wrestlers for HHS, state qualifiers, and Lynden coached at HHS for one season.  Finally, Coach Angie wanted to add, " I love Hastings wrestling!!"

Coach Joe Lawler

  Coach Joe Lawler is originally from Rochester, MN and attended Rochester Mayo High School, graduating in 2002. In high school, he was a team captain and a two-time state place winner: 4th in 2001 and 5th in 2002. Coach Lawler began his coaching career at Rochester Mayo (2013-2020) for 8 years before moving to Hastings where he has been coaching our youth program for two years (2022-Present).  Coach Lawler got into coaching in Hastings because his son wrestles for the youth program. His favorite thing about Hastings wrestling is the culture. Joe's favorite memory of Hastings wrestling was watching the 2023 Team win the 3A Team State Title. In the future, he is most excited  to watch Max and his friends wrestle for the program. Joe has been married for 7 years this month and has 3 children; Max (5), Reese (4), and #3 coming in February 2024. Coach Lawler had a few more things to add as well. Coach Jake Gotto

  Coach Jake Gotto is originally from Dubuque, Iowa and graduated from Western Dubuque High school (Iowa) in 2012 where he was a four year HS starter, had 100 varsity wins by Junior year, was a 2x State Qualifier, and at time of graduation, he was in the top five of most wins in school history. After high school, Jake wrestled at Coe College.  Jake has been coaching for 6 years since graduating college. This includes running the Marion Kids Club and coached at Marion High School (2 years). He also volunteered at Eagle Grove kids club (1 year). He also coached at Ankeny High School (1 year) and moved to Virginia where he coached at Cosby High School (1 year). He wanted to coach in Hastings because he heard great things about the athletes and coaching staff. He is excited to work with motivated and committed coaches and wrestlers.
