Kayla Williams is the daughter of Robert and Amy and one sister named Lea. Her favorite band is Alice in chains, TV Show is Games of Thrones, favorite movie is The Crow, and her favorite food is Tacos. If Kayla was a Nascar driver, the sponsorship on the hood of her car that describes her the best would be Arizona Tea. Kayla started wrestling during her freshman year of high school and got into it because of her dad. Her initial thoughts about wrestling was being nervous because she had never done anything like it before. She is continually driven by her determination to get better. Kayla's goal this year is to qualify for the state tournament. Her favorite moment from last season was competing in sections. Finally, Kayla is excited to get more experience and improve her technique

Trinity Yates is the daughter of Stacy. Her favorite band is AC/DC, her favorite TV show is Cobra Kai, her favorite movies are Karate Kids 1, 2, 3, and her favorite food are fries, tacos, burritos, chicken nuggets and ice cream. If Trinity was a Nascar driver, the sponsorship on the hood of her car that describes her the best would be McDonalds. She started wrestling 7 years ago and her first initial thoughts was that the sport was crazy. Trinity said in the future she hopes to continue to get better every year and make it to the state tournament. 

Allison Weinzettel is the daughter of Jessica and Thomas and the sister of Jacob and Isabelle. Her favorite musical artist is Niki Minaj, her favorite TV show is Jane the Virgin, her favorite movie is Mama Mia, and her favorite food is Tacos. If Allison was a Nascar driver, the sponsorship on the hood of her car that describes her the best would be LuLu Lemon. Allison has been wrestling for one year and got into the sport from Coach Haneberg. When she first started wrestling, Allison was excited to start something new. Her favorite memory from wrestling was having a winning record her first year. She is excited to get to know the new girls on the team better. In the future, she is excited to see the girls wrestling program grow. 


Trey Beissel is the son of Chad and Becky and the brother of Blake and Ellie. His favorite music is rap, his favorite TV show is All American, and his favorite food is Panda Express. He started wrestling when he was 4 years old and his dad Chad got him into the sport. Trey's first initial thoughts was that he liked the sport. His goals are to become a 4 time state champ and NCAA champ. Last summer, Trey placed at Fargo. In the future, he wants to be a captain of the high school team and become a Gopher. 


David Bauer is the son of Renee and Jeff and the brother of Brady. His favorite food is Canes, his favorite movie is Happy Gilmore, his favorite TV show is Spongebob and his favorite music is Lil Baby.  If David was a Nascar driver, the sponsorship on the hood of his car that describes him the best would be M & M's. He started wrestling when he was 4 and his initial thoughts was that he liked hockey better. David loves hanging out with his friends on the team and is looking forward to making an impact on the team this year. In the future, he was wants to go D1 for golf. 


Presley McCrae is the son of Dustin and Jackie and the brother of Greyson. His favorite music is rap, his favorite food is sushi, his favorite movie is Rudolf, and his favorite TV show is The Simpsons. If Presley was a Nascar driver, the sponsorship on the hood of his car that describes him the best would be Chevy. He started wrestling in 2013 and got into it from Chad Beissel. Presley's initial thoughts about wrestling was that he was nervous. The support from his friends and family keep him motivated in the sport. His future goal is to win state. Presley's favorite memory from wrestling was when the 7-8 grade team got second at NYWA state. He is excited to wrestle for the high school this year and in the future, Presley wants to go to college and wrestle there.

Coach Angie McLay

  Coach Angie McLay is a 1997 Hastings HS graduate. While she never officially wrestled, she has been wrestling her brother Josh McLay most of her life and winning most of their childhood matches. This is Coach Angie's first year coaching at HHS and she wanted to coach in order to help the growth of young ladies in wrestling and the sport of women’s wrestling.  Her favorite thing about Hastings wrestling is being  in a program that helps change the path of children’s lives. Coach Angie's favorite moment of Hastings wrestling has been watching the young men and women overcome obstacles to obtain their goals. Also upsetting STMA at the high school tournament last year.  She is most excited to see the  growth and development of women’s wrestling. Coach Angie has 3 boys Paul 25, Lynden 22, Mac 22. Lynden and Mac were both wrestlers for HHS, state qualifiers, and Lynden coached at HHS for one season.  Finally, Coach Angie wanted to add, " I love Hastings wrestling!!"

Coach Joe Lawler

  Coach Joe Lawler is originally from Rochester, MN and attended Rochester Mayo High School, graduating in 2002. In high school, he was a team captain and a two-time state place winner: 4th in 2001 and 5th in 2002. Coach Lawler began his coaching career at Rochester Mayo (2013-2020) for 8 years before moving to Hastings where he has been coaching our youth program for two years (2022-Present).  Coach Lawler got into coaching in Hastings because his son wrestles for the youth program. His favorite thing about Hastings wrestling is the culture. Joe's favorite memory of Hastings wrestling was watching the 2023 Team win the 3A Team State Title. In the future, he is most excited  to watch Max and his friends wrestle for the program. Joe has been married for 7 years this month and has 3 children; Max (5), Reese (4), and #3 coming in February 2024. Coach Lawler had a few more things to add as well. Coach Jake Gotto

  Coach Jake Gotto is originally from Dubuque, Iowa and graduated from Western Dubuque High school (Iowa) in 2012 where he was a four year HS starter, had 100 varsity wins by Junior year, was a 2x State Qualifier, and at time of graduation, he was in the top five of most wins in school history. After high school, Jake wrestled at Coe College.  Jake has been coaching for 6 years since graduating college. This includes running the Marion Kids Club and coached at Marion High School (2 years). He also volunteered at Eagle Grove kids club (1 year). He also coached at Ankeny High School (1 year) and moved to Virginia where he coached at Cosby High School (1 year). He wanted to coach in Hastings because he heard great things about the athletes and coaching staff. He is excited to work with motivated and committed coaches and wrestlers.
